Design Philosophy:

Bjarke Ingels' personal design philosophy is "Architecture is about making the world a little more like our dreams" (Bolidt.com), and while my philosophy is pretty similar, I believe it should incorporate more than just bringing dreams to life. I believe that what we design should have a mental, cultural, and environmental effect that seeks to amaze those who observe it.

Growing up I was a huge fan of Legos, Lincoln Logs, and wooden building blocks. There were so many possibilities to explore through just the combination of different colors and shapes, and each one had a radical effect of how my build would appear. Same for when I would sketch. Drawings don't lie, so having the ability to think of something and then translate that to paper is such a powerful tool. And as I got older I realized that I can up the scale of what I create, and that the same amazement that I can get from people from my drawings can be achieved through the forming of a building, interior, or any sort of space.

I like to think of how far architecture can go, and set a baseline for the next generation, who, in turn, will strive to go even farther. The act of encouraging adaption and innovation is vital for the forward movement of all cultures and arts, and architecture is a huge way to influence major groups of those are are in interaction with it.

The ethical, environmental, and sustainable aspects are also incredibly important parts of how to design better going forward. We can't ignore those points when considering the wellbeing of our future as a community, much less as a species. The responsibility part of this field is one that means a lot to me, because we are the ones in charge of how people view life in a community. Buildings and spaces are what lead people to have a sense of home,
